Distinction in the YICGG competition
Faithful to the long tradition of excellence, students of the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business excel in international competitions.
The first place was won by senior student George Karavas, with the MINPLUS group in the category Most Valuable project (MVP), in the Global Governance Youth Innovation Competition on Global Governance (YICGG), which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 15-18 July, with the co-financing of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
In this year's competition, entitled "Back to the Ocean: Sustainable Development in a Shared Future", the Greek student and the rest of his team, Anna Branets (Ukraine), Lê Na (Vietnam), Nazahath Ahmed (Maldives), Filip Lariu (Romania), Radhe Ayu (Indonesia) and Wei Jun S. Chan (Singapore) were awarded for their idea MINPLUS, which is a social enterprise on upcycling plastic involving social groups in developing countries.
The YICGG competition is organized by Fudan University of China and serves as a platform to raise awareness of young people worldwide, giving students the opportunity to present their ideas in the field of Global Governance.
The MINPLUS team competed with 78 students from 49 universities and 39 countries. Her next stop is the United Nations, where has been invited to present her idea!
